GM-42162-A is required to compress the limited slip clutch pack in order to remove and install the cross pin from the right side differential case.

This tool is also used to remove and install the differential case side bearings and drive pinion bearings over the output stub shafts.

Tool GM-42162-A is also used with a hydraulic press to compress the limited slip clutch pack to allow removal of the differential cross pin.
