This rug was handwoven by Malika, Zhara, Khatima, and Rokia in Anzal, a village located just north from the popular weaving town of Tazenakht.
Malika, Zhara, Khatima, and Rokia spent 6 weeks on this Hand-Knot x Zanafi area rug. Made from 100% live wool, this wool was dyed using a unique dyeing technique. Utilizing a blend of florals the women dyed this wool in bunches which allows for various sunny hues throughout the weave.
The combination of the Hand-Knot x Zanafi weaving technique is a living testament to the powerful history of this village. In Anzal the weaving tradition is nurtured by the woman passing the skills down from generation to generation. The simplistic pattern and intricate design elements make this piece a perfect rug for any home.
